Company Profile

The Mize brothers, Clyde and Cecil, started surveying in North Georgia in the 1960s after graduating from the University of Georgia in Agricultural Engineering. For many years, they set the standard in the region for precise land surveying that was professionally drafted and communicated to clients and attorneys. Richard May bought the Mize Brothers, Inc. in 1984 and the Mize brothers retired in 1985. Richard, a graduate of Southern Tech (SPSU) in Civil Engineering Technology, carried the standard forward. Richard May & Associates, P.C. was recognized for years as the source for legally sound and very thorough land surveying. Richard's finesse for land planning and subdivision design became very well known, and demand for the firm to provide these services for developers grew through the peak of the last economic and real estate peak.

In 2012, Richard May & Associates merged with Chastain & Associates, P.C. to form May, Chastain & Associates, a registered trade name in Forsyth County. Mark Chastain began his surveying career while still a student at Forsyth County High School in 1987. After graduating from Southern Tech in Civil Engineering Technology, he worked for and managed David Bealle Surveyors, Ltd. in Cumming for several years before going out on his own in 1995. May, Chastain & Associates has the remaining files of Mize Brothers, Inc., Bealle-Munday and Associates, Inc., David Bealle Surveyors Ltd, and Richard May & Associates, P.C. We look forward to serving clients old and new throughout the North Atlanta and Northeast Georgia region.

Note: due to damage from a fire at the adjacent property, the Cumming office is temporarily closed to the public for repairs and renovations. We continue to actively serve the area and plan to re-open to the public in early 2013.
